Un soir, sur sc\u00e8ne, il reconna\u00eet dans le public les trois hommes qui ont provoqu\u00e9 la ruine et le suicide de ses parents : le magistrat Dobe et les commer\u00e7ants Kawaguchiya et Hiromiya. \u00c0 l\u2019\u00e9poque, il avait alors jur\u00e9 de les venger co\u00fbte que co\u00fbte. Yukinojo compte bien tenir sa promesse et va pour cela se servir de la fille de Dobe, Dame Namiji, tomb\u00e9e amoureuse de l\u2019acteur&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Avis&nbsp;:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En Asie, comme en Occident, le milieu du 7<sup>e<\/sup> art rec\u00e8le bon nombre de cin\u00e9astes aux carri\u00e8res h\u00e9t\u00e9roclites. Certains sont de v\u00e9ritables touche-\u00e0-tout, tandis que d\u2019autres peuvent \u00eatre plus ou moins contraints d\u2019encha\u00eener les films de commande pour se tailler une r\u00e9putation. \u00c0 bien des \u00e9gards, <em>Kon Ichikawa<\/em> correspond \u00e0 ces deux cat\u00e9gories de r\u00e9alisateurs. Dot\u00e9 d\u2019un temp\u00e9rament ind\u00e9pendant, il a souvent \u00e9t\u00e9 forc\u00e9 d\u2019accepter des projets contractuels pour travailler sur des productions plus personnelles. Avec <strong>La Vengeance d\u2019un acteur<\/strong>, on distingue aussi ces deux pans de l\u2019industrie cin\u00e9matographique. Un peu comme s\u2019il s\u2019agissait des deux faces d\u2019une m\u00eame pi\u00e8ce\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img src=\"https:\/\/fr.web.img2.acsta.net\/r_1920_1080\/pictures\/20\/10\/21\/17\/04\/1705522.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Au Japon, l\u2019histoire du pr\u00e9sent m\u00e9trage b\u00e9n\u00e9ficie d\u2019une grande popularit\u00e9. \u00c0 l\u2019origine, il est question d\u2019un feuilleton d\u2019<em>Otokichi Mikami<\/em>, publi\u00e9 dans les quotidiens et les journaux avant de para\u00eetre en librairie. Dans les ann\u00e9es&nbsp;1930, ce best-seller donne lieu \u00e0 une premi\u00e8re adaptation sur grand \u00e9cran. Sous la forme d\u2019une trilogie, on retrouve d\u00e9j\u00e0 <em>Kazuo Hasegawa<\/em> dans le r\u00f4le de Yukinoj\u014d Nakamura. Cette incursion se solde par une approche nerveuse qui fait la part belle \u00e0 l\u2019action et augure du succ\u00e8s \u00e0 venir du chanbara. Par la suite, l\u2019engouement pour le film de sabre ne se d\u00e9mentira pas, au point de phagocyter le genre et de ressasser des intrigues similaires avec un minimum de vari\u00e9t\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center\">\u00ab\u00a0<strong>La Vengeance d\u2019un acteur<\/strong> s\u2019av\u00e8re aussi int\u00e9ressant que d\u00e9licat \u00e0 appr\u00e9hender.\u00a0\u00bb<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour <em>Kon Ichikawa<\/em>, le projet de remake de <strong>La Vengeance d\u2019un acteur<\/strong> s\u2019av\u00e8re aussi int\u00e9ressant que d\u00e9licat \u00e0 appr\u00e9hender. S\u2019il constitue une \u00e9tape charni\u00e8re dans sa carri\u00e8re, eu \u00e9gard \u00e0 ses rapports avec les studios Daiei, la production suscite des attentes \u00e9videntes. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 une \u00e9criture pleine de subtilit\u00e9, le r\u00e9alisateur va pourtant les d\u00e9tourner et apporter une dynamique diff\u00e9rente au r\u00e9cit originel. En lieu et place d\u2019un rythme effr\u00e9n\u00e9, prompt aux affrontements, il privil\u00e9gie les ficelles m\u00e9lodramatiques et psychologiques. Audacieux dans ses intentions, ce choix se r\u00e9v\u00e8le judicieux pour rendre la narration moins pr\u00e9visible qu\u2019escompt\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En r\u00e8gle g\u00e9n\u00e9rale, il est vrai qu\u2019une histoire de vengeance reste assez lin\u00e9aire dans son d\u00e9roulement. Une telle th\u00e9matique demeure manich\u00e9enne dans ses propos. Certes, les enjeux sont bien \u00e9tablis et ancr\u00e9s dans un contexte qui distille quelques critiques sous-jacentes sur la politique imp\u00e9riale de l\u2019\u00e9poque d\u2019Edo. Soit dit en passant, la br\u00e8ve retranscription des \u00e9meutes dues aux manques de vivres, aux vell\u00e9it\u00e9s mercantiles de certains hauts dignitaires, pr\u00e9sage de la chute du r\u00e9gime et de la restauration Meiji. Cela \u00e9tant dit, tout l\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat de l\u2019intrigue consiste \u00e0 atermoyer sur les intentions du protagoniste, ses \u00e9tats d\u2019\u00e2me et ses remords.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center\">\u00ab\u00a0L\u2019occurrence au th\u00e9\u00e2tre kabuki est centrale.\u00a0\u00bb<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Il se retrouve prisonnier de son devoir, de ses responsabilit\u00e9s. Cette impression surgit de mani\u00e8re explicite \u00e0 travers la mise en sc\u00e8ne. On songe, entre autres, \u00e0 ces plans excentr\u00e9s o\u00f9 le cadre supplante tout autre sujet. D\u00e8s lors, nombre d\u2019intervenants paraissent opprim\u00e9s par l\u2019absence de perspectives. Celles-ci sont pourtant pr\u00e9sentes, ne serait-ce qu\u2019\u00e0 travers la romance avec la fille d\u2019un de ses ennemis. Il est int\u00e9ressant de consid\u00e9rer que la sinc\u00e9rit\u00e9 des sentiments de Yukinoj\u014d contraste avec ses motivations initiales. <em>Kazuo Hasegawa<\/em> fait montre d\u2019une interpr\u00e9tation nuanc\u00e9e, \u00e0 la fois sensible et implacable, forte et faible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cette dichotomie se retranscrit \u00e0 merveille dans le personnage de l\u2019onnagata, figure embl\u00e9matique du th\u00e9\u00e2tre japonais o\u00f9 le masculin c\u00f4toie le f\u00e9minin. L\u2019occurrence au th\u00e9\u00e2tre kabuki est centrale. On songe \u00e0 la s\u00e9quence d\u2019introduction, ainsi qu\u2019\u00e0 une r\u00e9alisation inventive qui floue les fronti\u00e8res entre la repr\u00e9sentation sur les planches et un cadrage similaire pour d\u00e9crire des moments de la vie quotidienne. C\u2019est le cas, par exemple, de ce format large et horizontal pour d\u00e9peindre une sc\u00e8ne th\u00e9\u00e2trale ou une d\u00e9ambulation nocturne des protagonistes. Un peu comme si Yukinoj\u014d ne parvenait pas \u00e0 se d\u00e9faire de ses r\u00f4les, de son statut. Le c\u00f4t\u00e9 \u00e9pur\u00e9 de certains plans, voire l\u2019exposition de sc\u00e8nes sur fond noir, renforce cette singularit\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img src=\"https:\/\/fr.web.img4.acsta.net\/r_1920_1080\/pictures\/20\/10\/21\/17\/04\/1675881.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Au final, <strong>La Vengeance d\u2019un acteur<\/strong> est plus une affaire de manipulations que de r\u00e8glements de compte. Le concept de la vengeance rev\u00eat des apparats insidieux o\u00f9 les man\u0153uvres du personnage principal visent \u00e0 atteindre son objectif premier. <em>Kon Ichikawa<\/em> s\u2019affranchit des consid\u00e9rations basiques, voire moralisatrices, sur la notion de vengeance. Son approche anticonformiste apporte une grande qualit\u00e9 d\u2019\u00e9criture. Cela concerne aussi bien les protagonistes que l\u2019intrigue elle-m\u00eame. On peut \u00e9galement saluer sa r\u00e9alisation qui poss\u00e8de des atours esth\u00e9tiques remarquables. \u00c0 mi-chemin entre le th\u00e9\u00e2tre et le cin\u00e9ma, une vision traditionnelle et contemporaine, son film multiplie les discordances de ton, les oppositions&nbsp;; qu\u2019elles pr\u00e9sentent un caract\u00e8re formel ou conceptuel.
