Le suspect est l\u2019un de leurs coll\u00e8gues : Iwao Enokizu, un escroc plusieurs fois condamn\u00e9. R\u00e9fugi\u00e9 dans une auberge d\u2019Hamatsu, Enokizu se fait passer pour un professeur d\u2019universit\u00e9 et poursuit ses m\u00e9faits alors que son portrait est affich\u00e9 dans tout le Japon. L\u2019histoire vraie d\u2019un tueur sans scrupules que la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 a transform\u00e9 en monstre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Avis&nbsp;:<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Issu de la nouvelle vague nipponne, <em>Sh\u014dhei Imamura<\/em> poss\u00e8de une carri\u00e8re cin\u00e9matographique singuli\u00e8re. De ses premiers longs-m\u00e9trages, le r\u00e9alisateur s\u2019est lanc\u00e9 dans une p\u00e9riode documentaire entre les ann\u00e9es\u00a01960 et 1970. De prime abord, cette orientation reste subie. La faute \u00e0 quelques d\u00e9convenues commerciales, notamment avec <strong>Profonds d\u00e9sirs des dieux<\/strong>. Il n\u2019en demeure pas moins que le cin\u00e9aste est parvenu \u00e0 s\u2019approprier ce type de m\u00e9trage pour d\u00e9peindre la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 japonaise, s\u2019interroger sur son devenir face \u00e0 l\u2019h\u00e9ritage traumatique des d\u00e9cennies pass\u00e9es. On peut notamment saluer son travail sur <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lavisqteam.fr\/?p=67171\">L\u2019\u00c9vaporation de l\u2019homme<\/a><\/strong> ou <strong>En Suivant ces soldats qui ne sont pas revenus<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img src=\"https:\/\/image.jimcdn.com\/app\/cms\/image\/transf\/none\/path\/s51090bf3aecd9659\/image\/i493286546454df5e\/version\/1518605235\/image.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Avec <strong>La Vengeance est \u00e0 moi<\/strong>, <em>Sh\u014dhei Imamura<\/em> renoue avec l\u2019exercice de la fiction. N\u00e9anmoins, cette derni\u00e8re reste toujours \u00e0 la lisi\u00e8re de la r\u00e9alit\u00e9. En l\u2019occurrence, le pr\u00e9sent film constitue l\u2019adaptation du roman de <em>Ry\u016bz\u014d Saki<\/em>, lui-m\u00eame inspir\u00e9 d\u2019un fait divers ayant d\u00e9fray\u00e9 la chronique au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es&nbsp;1960, au Japon. \u00c0 savoir, les crimes en s\u00e9rie d\u2019<em>Akira Nishiguchi<\/em>. En d\u00e9pit de premi\u00e8res s\u00e9quences \u00e0 la violence abrupte, l\u2019approche g\u00e9n\u00e9rale de l\u2019histoire s\u2019\u00e9carte de toute vocation sensationnaliste. Si l\u2019on retrace les assassinats commis, le cin\u00e9aste choisit de s\u2019attarder sur le parcours du principal int\u00e9ress\u00e9, non sur l\u2019enqu\u00eate ou les actes eux-m\u00eames. \u00c0 l\u2019image de ses documentaires, il en \u00e9mane un traitement intimiste qui privil\u00e9gie l\u2019analyse froide et sans concession au divertissement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center\">\u00ab\u00a0Toute la subtilit\u00e9 de la narration tient au caract\u00e8re anodin des s\u00e9quences.\u00a0\u00bb<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Au plus pr\u00e8s d\u2019un quotidien min\u00e9 par les d\u00e9sillusions et les mensonges, l\u2019histoire \u00e9volue \u00e0 rebours. De la capture du tueur, qui ne fait aucun doute, \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9vocation d\u2019\u00e9v\u00e8nements clefs, la progression est m\u00e9ticuleuse. Celle-ci vise \u00e0 d\u00e9celer des pistes de compr\u00e9hension quant au comportement de l\u2019assassin. Il ne s\u2019agit pas de justifier de tels actes, mais de les rapprocher avec des moments sp\u00e9cifiques de son existence, des relations houleuses ou des ambitions veules. Toute la subtilit\u00e9 de la narration tient au caract\u00e8re anodin des s\u00e9quences. Elle \u00e9vite \u00e9galement des raccourcis faciles o\u00f9 les crimes d\u2019un adulte trouvent leur source dans les traumas de l\u2019enfance, et ce, en d\u00e9pit du rapport tumultueux \u00e0 un parent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Si cette assertion reste av\u00e9r\u00e9e dans bien des cas, elle n\u2019est pas l\u2019unique \u00e9l\u00e9ment d\u00e9clencheur du passage \u00e0 l\u2019acte. D\u2019ailleurs, ce dernier r\u00e9v\u00e8le davantage des circonstances fortuites, seulement motiv\u00e9es par l\u2019opportunisme. D\u00e8s lors, le m\u00e9trage s\u2019\u00e9loigne des consid\u00e9rations propres au polar, au film noir ou au thriller. Au regard des th\u00e9matiques abord\u00e9es, ces genres sont pr\u00e9sents. Cependant, <em>Sh\u014dhei Imamura<\/em> s\u2019\u00e9carte des sch\u00e9mas habituels. Le mode op\u00e9ratoire ne poss\u00e8de pas d\u2019importance r\u00e9elle. Les investigations sont \u00e0 peine \u00e9voqu\u00e9es au d\u00e9but de l\u2019intrigue. De m\u00eame, l\u2019ensemble s\u2019affranchit d\u2019une \u00e9volution lin\u00e9aire ou d\u2019une alternance de points de vue entre l\u2019antagoniste et les forces de l\u2019ordre. Quant \u00e0 son statut de fugitif, il ne pr\u00e9sente pas une mont\u00e9e en tension particuli\u00e8re, inh\u00e9rente \u00e0 une telle chasse \u00e0 l\u2019homme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center\">\u00ab\u00a0Le r\u00e9alisateur effectue un constat sans \u00e9mettre un jugement de valeur.\u00a0\u00bb<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>En pareilles circonstances, ces choix artistiques ne desservent pas le propos initial. Bien au contraire, ils offrent davantage de coh\u00e9rence pour concr\u00e9tiser une vision froide, presque scientifique, du fait divers. Avec <em>Sh\u014dhei Imamura<\/em>, la cam\u00e9ra tient lieu de microscope afin d\u2019analyser et de d\u00e9cortiquer le moindre d\u00e9tail sous l\u2019angle d\u2019un observateur ext\u00e9rieur, sinon \u00e9tranger aux \u00e9v\u00e8nements. Il en \u00e9mane un contraste presque paradoxal face \u00e0 cette volont\u00e9 d\u2019entrer dans l\u2019intimit\u00e9 du tueur. Pour autant, le cin\u00e9aste demeure t\u00e9moin et non partie prenante, \u00e9loignant toute subjectivit\u00e9 de son travail. Ce qui \u00e9vite de rendre le criminel attachant ou d\u2019att\u00e9nuer la port\u00e9e de ses actes, m\u00eame si leur condamnation ne reste pas clairement \u00e9tablie. L\u00e0 encore, le r\u00e9alisateur effectue un constat sans \u00e9mettre un jugement de valeur.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.lepublicsystemecinema.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/9346922.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Au final, <strong>La Vengeance est \u00e0 moi<\/strong> est un film fort et implacable dans sa mani\u00e8re d\u2019appr\u00e9hender la th\u00e9matique du tueur en s\u00e9rie. Bien avant <em>David Fincher<\/em> ou <em>Bong Joon-ho<\/em>, <em>Sh\u014dhei Imamura<\/em> impose une \u0153uvre marquante et radicale \u00e0 de nombreux \u00e9gards. En lieu et place d\u2019une \u00e9vocation spectaculaire ou fantasm\u00e9e, il privil\u00e9gie un portrait intimiste sous le prisme du drame humain. D\u00e8s lors, la banalit\u00e9 et la violence du quotidien d\u00e9veloppent une atmosph\u00e8re d\u00e9rangeante, car elles restent bien plus proche de la vie de tout un chacun. Preuve en est avec l\u2019irruption des cadavres ou des assassinats lors des instants les plus inattendus, voire inopportuns. On s\u2019\u00e9carte ainsi des aprioris propres \u00e0 un tel sujet afin de se confronter \u00e0 une r\u00e9alit\u00e9 froide et sans concession.
