Oshima, un agent commercial de trente ans, a disparu. Sa fianc\u00e9e lance un avis de recherche et part avec une \u00e9quipe de tournage pour enqu\u00eater sur cette disparition. Au fil des recherches se dessine le portrait d&rsquo;un homme rustre, timide, peu efficace dans son travail, qui aimait boire et s\u00e9duire. Celui-ci n&rsquo;a plus donn\u00e9 signe de vie apr\u00e8s avoir empoch\u00e9 une somme d&rsquo;argent qui devait revenir \u00e0 son entreprise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Avis&nbsp;:<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En France, comme ailleurs, le cin\u00e9ma des ann\u00e9es&nbsp;1960 se distingue par une approche lib\u00e9raliste o\u00f9 les metteurs en sc\u00e8ne de la nouvelle vague se sont affranchis des codes sociaux pour fournir des \u0153uvres engag\u00e9es. Cette tendance a \u00e9galement marqu\u00e9 le Japon avec des r\u00e9alisateurs embl\u00e9matiques de cette p\u00e9riode. On peut notamment \u00e9voquer <em>K\u014dji Wakamatsu, Yoshishige Yoshida, Nagisa \u014cshima<\/em>, sans oublier <em>Sh\u00f4hei Imamura<\/em>. Il en ressort des incursions anticonformistes qui posent un regard objectif, sinon critique, sur la soci\u00e9t\u00e9, ses \u00e9volutions, ainsi que ses d\u00e9rives. On se confronte ainsi \u00e0 une enqu\u00eate de terrain qui succ\u00e8de \u00e0 une pr\u00e9sentation des faits. Ceux-ci sont parfaitement av\u00e9r\u00e9s. Par ailleurs, ils interrogent sur un ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne gu\u00e8re isol\u00e9 au sein de l\u2019archipel nippon. \u00c0 l\u2019\u00e9poque, on recense des dizaines de milliers de disparitions au Japon, sans qu\u2019on parvienne \u00e0 les expliquer. L\u2019id\u00e9e est intrigante \u00e0 bien des \u00e9gards. Le cin\u00e9aste part tout d\u2019abord sur l\u2019affaire en elle-m\u00eame avant d\u2019\u00e9largir son point de vue. Pour cela, il interviewe les proches, les coll\u00e8gues ou de simples badauds qui ont crois\u00e9 l\u2019int\u00e9ress\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Si la r\u00e9alisation peut para\u00eetre aust\u00e8re, elle n\u2019en demeure pas moins d\u2019une justesse crue. Comprenez qu\u2019elle s\u2019affranchit de toutes fioritures, sans doute pour pr\u00e9server le pragmatisme ou l\u2019objectivit\u00e9 que requiert un tel exercice. L\u2019\u00e9quipe du film se met alors \u00e0 enqu\u00eater, \u00e0 arpenter les rues et les lieux que le disparu est cens\u00e9 avoir c\u00f4toy\u00e9s. Progressivement, on tisse un portrait contradictoire o\u00f9 les d\u00e9fauts et les m\u00e9faits constituent autant d\u2019explications plausibles \u00e0 sa \u00ab&nbsp;fuite&nbsp;\u00bb. En filigrane de r\u00e9v\u00e9lations graduelles, on se pla\u00eet \u00e0 \u00e9mettre des hypoth\u00e8ses sur ce qui a pu arriver. Ce qui vient justifier cette volont\u00e9 de renier son pass\u00e9, sa vie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De notions \u00e9gotistes, <em>Sh\u00f4hei Imamura<\/em> d\u00e9couvre et s\u2019attarde sur des probl\u00e8mes sociaux qui mine la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 japonaise. Sans concession, il d\u00e9peint un visage peu flatteur de son propre pays, s\u2019\u00e9loignant des id\u00e9es re\u00e7ues et d\u2019une glorification patriotique qui affuble la population. On y \u00e9voque aussi l\u2019ali\u00e9nation de l\u2019individu par le travail, l\u2019argent et le plaisir. D\u2019une mani\u00e8re tout avant-gardiste, il se penche \u00e9galement sur la condition de la femme, m\u00eame si la force et la symbolique n\u2019atteignent pas l\u2019approche de <em>Kinuyo Tanaka<\/em>. Certes, la r\u00e9alisatrice officie dans la fiction avec des \u0153uvres au parti pris \u00e9vident, mais n\u2019est-ce pas le cas du travail de son homologue&nbsp;?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Au-del\u00e0 des deux premiers actes de son documentaire (l\u2019individu, puis la g\u00e9n\u00e9ralisation de son probl\u00e8me), <strong>L\u2019\u00c9vaporation de l\u2019homme<\/strong> n\u2019est pas ce qu\u2019il para\u00eet. Derri\u00e8re ce cin\u00e9ma-v\u00e9rit\u00e9, <em>Sh\u00f4hei Imamura<\/em> interroge sur la perception de la r\u00e9alit\u00e9, la notion de v\u00e9rit\u00e9. D\u2019une mani\u00e8re subtile, presque insidieuse, on assiste \u00e0 ses aveux o\u00f9, d\u2019un postulat av\u00e9r\u00e9, il tisse la trame d\u2019une fiction. On s\u2019immisce dans le faux-documentaire, exercice peu usit\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque si ce n\u2019est sous la cam\u00e9ra de <em>Peter Watkins<\/em> avec <strong>La Bombe<\/strong> ou <strong>The Connection<\/strong> de <em>Shirley Clarke<\/em>. D\u00e8s lors, les \u00e9changes prennent une tournure inattendue, sorte de r\u00e8glement de compte familial. Le d\u00e9cor s\u2019\u00e9tiole pour laisser place \u00e0 la froideur d\u2019un studio, au sens propre. De par son traitement sobre, on s\u2019immisce presque na\u00efvement dans ce qui s\u2019avance comme une enqu\u00eate de terrain sur un disparu. On y distingue des \u00e9l\u00e9ments troublants et une interrogation sur la condition sociale de la classe moyenne dans le Japon des ann\u00e9es&nbsp;1960. Derri\u00e8re cette probl\u00e9matique, on y entrevoit une r\u00e9flexion inattendue sur les concepts de r\u00e9alit\u00e9 et de v\u00e9rit\u00e9.
